While I like to do my best to keep my cool and take things one step at a time, it is almost inevitable avoid the stresses that come with the last week or two of the semester. Despite these stresses, I am still able to find some relief and joy in the little things. I recently continued with my apartment decorating in leu of the holiday season. Adding to the previously hung pine wreath (which smells lovely), the string lights on my balcony, and the poinsettia plant I so proudly put on display in my living room area, I added a few more little decorative pieces! I placed cinnamon scented pine cones around my apartment, hung more pretty string lights on my balcony, was gifted another poinsettia plant, and probably my favorite addition, with help, set up a silver aluminum tree for my bedroom. Amidst a busy week, it is important to find motivation and happiness in the smallest things. I took Friday evening off from school work and enjoyed much needed time with some girl friends. We decorated cookies, a gingerbread house, listened to holiday music (see below for some of my favorites!), and talked for hours. Every now and then, that is exactly what you need.
Anyway, I can say with much relief that I am feeling less overwhelmed and have successfully finished most of my classes. I even had time to get lunch as well as a manicure pedicure with a girl friend of mine – much needed!
As the final week of the fall semester comes to a close, I look forward to sharing more of my holiday plans. Stay tuned! For now I’ll leave you with some of my current holiday favorites…
