As a recent college graduate, I am consumed with the excitement, anxiety, and uncertainty of what the future holds. While at times it sounds comforting to hide away in my mothers nest at home and avoid adulting altogether, I have decided it may be the push in the right direction to move out and get a place of my own. I am hoping that this leap of faith will help motivate me toward progress and independence.
I am well aware that things will be very different; knowing this can be somewhat daunting. I definitely try to be optimistic and approach this change with an open mind. After being on the house hunt for the past month or so, my boyfriend and I finally found our apartment. Conveniently located, this completely renovated apartment complex checks so many of my/our boxes (“wood” floors, nice appliances, gated entry, parking, not to mention having water included is definitely a plus). It was a great find if I do say so myself!
Amidst all of the adulting priorities and more important matters, I can’t help but be excited to move in, furnish, and decorate our new home. I have so many ideas! I will share some (possible ideas) below.
Something we really like about this apartment in particular is the open space. While this has a lot to do with the fact that we have yet to furnish it, we would still like to maintain this sense of openness and airiness once we do. Simplicity is always key in my book. I am leaning toward neutral tones with some contrasting whites, charcoals, and blacks. Subtle pops of color and character will come from smaller, more decorative pieces here and there.
In addition to being on the house hunt, I too have been on the job hunt. (So much adulting!) My passion for music and desire to pursue a career in the music industry has been one I have dreamt of my whole life. In addition to this, my interest in social media, marketing, and further developing my online presence in general often has me torn in making a definite decision between one career path or the other. I would love to bridge those two worlds together and look forward to doing so.
Anyway, back to the big move. As we tie up loose ends and prepare to sign our lease, we are thrilled to be moving in on August 15th. Very soon! A housewarming get together and pictures to come!
