Things are slowly but surely coming together as we move into our new apartment. The whole apartment hunting process through moving process is one with many mixed emotions. I have gone through feeling very excited and optimistic to feeling quite overwhelmed and stressed. I so look forward to the moment when everything is moved in, ready, and settled so I can take a moment to lounge on my sofa, relax, and take it all in (before getting back to the job hunt and adulting of course).
With the new apartment, I hope to implement some new lifestyle habits and routines. As I get into a schedule, I would like to cook more and be more aware of what I am eating, taking better care of my body overall. Change can be difficult but I am going to try my best to tackle it head on.
Speaking of change, I will now be the full time mother of my Tibetan Terrier, Luna. She is my pride and joy but still can be a handful. We will have to adjust to apartment life together. Making the transition from her home for the past six years with a large backyard to explore and play in, to a new apartment can be quite daunting. I definitely try to be optimistic and have come to realize that maybe having Luna will help get me into a more regular schedule since I will be regularly walking her/taking her out, incorporating exercise into both of our daily lives. I want to do what I can to make this transition as comfortable and pleasant as I can for us both.
Another change will obviously be living with my boyfriend. To some, the idea of moving in with your significant other can sound terrifying – like a monumental, life or death step in a relationship. We have chosen not to look at it this way. We are very excited as we both create a space to call ours.
I love watching the apartment come together, slowly but surely becoming a more inviting and cozy place to call home. While I have had so many different decor ideas, I’ve shared some examples of interiors that I like and am keeping in mind as I move forward decorating our home, staying within a reasonable budget.
Something that very much excites me about our new apartment is our kitchen. I look forward to cooking more often so cookbooks are going to be good to have as well as other kitchen tools and such. Health is going to be a greater priority of mine moving forward. I’m always trying to stay hydrated. Urban Outfitters has a fruit infusing drink dispenser that I have my eye on. Here are some more kitchen items I’m currently coveting.
Covetable Coffee Tables & Shelving Shenanigans
Coffee table books, candles, and plants are always a fun way to dress up any room. I am currently coveting this Where is Karl book. It is basically a fashion forward Where is Waldo – a must have coffee table book! In addition to my collection, candles (I will share some I am currently eyeing below) and plants are another nice way to make your home feel more homey. I love having flowers in my home. If you are one who can’t tend to or care for a flower to save your live, consider a succulent. They will add a little life and color too the space.
A slight challenge at this apartment will be sharing a smaller bathroom. Considering the lack of space, organization and efficiency will be important factors to maximize storage. Reducing clutter seems to be my main objective (and making it look nice of course).
